Being Left-Handed is similar to being Queer?
Admittedly, this revelation happened while I was really high. Still seems to make some sense to me though….
-
About 90% of people are heterosexual and you might either generally forget that queer people exist, or think that their prominence in society is overstated.
-
The appropriate response to discovering someone is queer is to say "oh" and move on with your day.
-
Being queer can be mildly inconvenient as most things are designed with heterosexuals in mind.
-
People tend not to believe people when they say they are "truly bisexual".
-
A lot of societies, especially back in the day, would force queer people to pretend to be straight.
-
Once it became more acceptable to be queer, reports of queerness rose from a mere particularly among the younger demographics but some people still think it’s the result of "grooming" rather than less fear.
-
In some cultures, being queer is considered "unclean", even though in modern society that's kind of a dumb idea
-
And much like being left-handed, queerness is something you're born with, can't actually control, and doesn't actually say anything about who you are as a person. It's just different, and that's okay.
